Here at J.B Penman Butchers, we are proud to be a 4th generation, traditional family run butchers in the small fishing village of Crail. The business opened at the top of the Shoregate (a few hundred metres from our premises today) in 1926 by John Burgess Penman who is Keith’s (the current owners) great, great uncle. Shortly after World War 2, the business was taken over by John Hutchon & John Cleghorn who then under their ownership moved the business to where we are now on the High Street in 1953. In the late 70’s after serving his apprenticeship and working a few years under the current owners, Tom (Keith’s father) was brought into the business before taking full ownership in the 80’s. Keith was then made a partner along with Tom when he was just 21 years old in 1991. Keith then took full ownership of the business when Tom retired in 2012. In recent years, Keith has now brought in his son, Kyle as a partner in the business competing the 4 generations.

We have been providing instore & delivery services to our loyal customers for almost 100 years! We offer the highest of quality beef, lamb, pork, poultry, & more throughout the East Neuk, St Andrews & surrounding areas. We also work with many local restaurants, hotels, & shops providing our produce.
